Mad MPGs with AA Headers

So I went on my first long road trip since getting my headers. I went from Pittsburgh, PA to Murrell's Inlet, SC today and got 33mpg... Last long trip I made was from Peoria, IL to Pittsburgh and got like 26mpg.... I had a little bit more stuff in my car during the Peoria trip, but that shouldnt make a difference on a mostly highway trip.

Not sure if this will affect anyone's choice to buy them or not, but that's what I've experienced so far.

Also, i79 in West Virginia is so much fun. Highly recommend. No cops, all on-camber turns, no traffic... had a great time

today it was roughly 600 miles. I suppose it was net downhill since I went to the ocean, but I cant imagine it made a huge difference over such a distance

What sort of cruising speed? My 330i is definitely not as light on fuel on the open road as I would like, mostly drops to around 9.1 l/100 km (25.85mpg), but that's cruising at max 130 km/h, a few hills and a pass, maybe some slower bits along the way. I suppose if I really try, I can get it below 9 l/100 km and if I select a slightly lower cruising speed. But this car is definitely not as economical on the open road as the E46 330i 6MT that I have.

So it depended on state. Virginia I stayed the speed limit which was 60 most of the time, but ranged from 55-70mpg. Earlier I probably averaged around 80 and probably 45 to 55 for the last 60 miles or so

Those are some really good mpg figures for the various speeds. I somehow doubt my 330i will be able to match this though.

I'm guessing the slope to the ocean plus a tail wind had something to do with it.

I have nothing to add other than to say welcome to the great state of South Carolina. Enjoy your stay! And let's go Penguins!

That is definitely an added benefit, though not surprising - with the cruise set at 78 (indicated) with 3.38's my car has never done better than 29 on a road trip. Backing off to like 74 makes a big difference, but fuck it I want to get there!

So after the trip home I ended at 29.4mpg.. Gonna say the difference was 2 things:
1: Slope uphill on the way home

2: on the way down I drove mountains in the day and flat in the night. Way home I did flat parts during the day and mountains in the night so I used my brakes a lot more going downhill since I was tired and it was dark
