We know that it does, just doesn't make any sense to call a modification to the car's ECU/Turbo a "stage 0"

As pointed out, that would indicate, "ZERO" done to the car...or meaning stock!

In the tuning community that I've always seen, an ECU reflash/piggyback only is considered Stage 1

What were you hired for out of curiosity, customer relation? Support? Spare dangler?

Other than that, cyl 4 on the WRX's was always the hot, similarly the last in the firing order. It was also closest to the turbo and downpipe which didn't help.
