That looks pretty rough. I checked my '11 model and there's no sign of wear on the roof like that. Do you ever use roof racks, could those be causing premature wear?

That's awful. I would go to the dealer and show it to them. They should do something for you.

2 years ago I noticed some rust on a weld on the trunk near the top of the license plate frame on my '09 335. It was obviously a manufacturing defect because it was in a place where you would never even touch normally. The weld must have been contaminated somehow prior to paint. The car was still under warranty at the time and they installed a new trunk no questions asked.

I have it peeling from rear bumper near the wheel wheel. Dealer won't do anything under warranty and it will need a respray

Have you owned the car since new? It looks to me like the roof has been painted. I see clearcoat under the peeling clearcoat at the very corner of the roof in the second shot. Your windshield trim has been disturbed, and it looks like it's got some overpspray clear on it.

Good eye Nick. I would say the same. Looks like they didn't even remove the tracks or windshield molding before painting.

Bmwner, any updates?

Bought the car 2 years ago. Previous owner did not mention anything about the roof. Shop just confirmed the paint is not the original and car has been painted .

Was the whole car painted or just the roof? Hopefully it was only roof, probably due to a garage door closing on it and scuffing the clear coat.

Not good either way as workmanship quality is lacking. I hope it's not the whole car.
