The same reason you'd replace parts like plugs, injectors (if they are really old w/ lots of miles) coils, etc. BEFORE you tune.

They hope and are probably successful in most people either not having the car long enough or not wanting to deal with the hassle of shipping parts back. Such as oil yes they’ll warranty it but shipping the oil would almost run the cost of just buying it without return

More HP = more heat. Heat kills electronics. More heat = more resistance. Harder to get a spark occur in a higher pressure environment. Big reason spark plugs have to be gaped closer in FI cars. |

Yeah, I think a tuned motor merely exposes weak coils sooner than a stock motor, due to higher boost requiring more energy for a consistent spark. I wouldn't say it's harder on coils, but it's certainly more picky.

The amount of people that actually take the time to order the new part, then ship back the old part(s) for the refund is a fraction of a percent of the people that order from them is my educated guess.
