VRSF downpipe install

I installed a VRSF downpipe on my 2010 335D. I know there are a few options out there but this was the most reasonably priced option. I was thinking about gutting my stock dpf but I decided it wasn’t worth my time and the VRSF downpipe was lighter and easier to reinstall. There are other DIY’s on DPF delete so I won’t go into great detail on the specifics.
With the free shipping it took 5 days to receive. In the box is the downpipe and exhaust gasket flange. The only thing I had to get was 2” 5/16”x1.5” stainless bolts for mounting to the rest of the exhaust.
1.Jack car up 18-20 inches so you have enough working room
2.Access the DPF by removing splash guard, front cover as well as the air intake box and front cowl at the base of the windshield
3.Disconnect the pre-oxidative catalyst temp sensor and O2 sensor connections toward the top of the DPF
4.Remove small bracket coming from the engine block to the lower part of the DPF (Gives more room to work)
5.Support motor with a jack and approximately 2ft piece of metal pipe near the A/C compressor
6.Remove 4 Torx bit T12 bolts from the motor mount bracket (Be patient as they are not very easy to access)
7.Remove motor mount 16mm nut from the top of motor with multiple extensions
8.Remove motor mount bracket. I replaced my motor mount so I removed that as well
9.Now the DPF lower bolts and V Band clamp can be removed along with disconnecting any sensors still connected
10.Next finesse the DPF down and out of the way. I loosened the closest exhaust hanger to give me more room
11.Once the DPF is out, transfer over the O2 sensor and Temp sensor
12.Now bolt up your new shiny downpipe

Install took me about 6 hours as I was taking my time getting familiar with everything. The hardest part for me was getting the motor mount bracket to line up and start the bolts. I ended up taking it back out and started with the lower left bolt since it’s the hardest to access. The lower brace bracket that was removed does not go back on. I figured because the downpipe is so much lighter it doesn’t need the extra support. Overall, I’m very happy with the product and quality. Everything lined up perfect. I would rate this job a 6/10 based on my experience which I would say is intermediate. Happy Modding!

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. We've got a few dozen of these out in the wild so far and we're thrilled with the feedback.

I can't wait to announce the upcoming 335d products we've got in the works

I recently one of these deletes in a hybrid build I just finished. Pretty nice piece for the money. I also had to trim the egt bung to ensure a good seal with the egt sensor. Other than that it was a direct bolt in.

Thanks for your input, we're actually resolving that issue as we speak and will make sure future orders don't encounter the same issues

Please make some goodies for the x5 35d as well. The market is getting larger as people realize the potential of the m57 engine/turbo set up. People are charging alot for some pipes...

I'm right down the street in acton and have a spare car. If you ever need to fab something up! Hint Hint.

Of course Torgus! We have an OEM X5D intercooler on hand now that we've scanned and modified in order to take advantage of all that extra space in front of the OEM unit. I'll make sure you get dibs on the first intercooler & DPF/SCR delete we can get our hands on

You really think the car will act normal without the stock exhaust without a tune? Let's actually take a moment and use our brain a little.

Yes, it is mandadory to remove dpf functions in ecu after it is removed.

This is awesome! Which tune you plan to take and are you leaving EGR in?
