Weird Traction Control Problem

hello, I have an 08 328xi and when I take the car for a drive after about 10-15 miles my traction control light comes on with the 4x4! warning light, but when I turn the car off and go to drive again it goes away until I drive another 10-15 miles

Scan the car with a scanner that does BMW specific codes.

If it's giving the 4wd trifecta, there is a malfunction code stored.

The OP has not scanned the car with a BMW capable scanner. Probably a run-of-the-mill OBD scanner.

The helpful thing is to direct him to a foxwell/schawben scanner, INPA/ITSA, or some similarly capable cell-phone app.

Or we can just throw darts at a list of parts and post which ones we hit.

From the looks of that, the problem was not wheel speed sensors.

Educated guess: T-case is smoked, the actuator is bad, or the actuator gears have failed.

Sounds like changing the actuator did not fix the problem. Did you perform the T-case actuator re-learn/adaption reset?

Is there fluid in the T-case?

Are the gears damaged?

from what I could tell when I felt inside the tc while doing the change all the gears were solid and I reused the plastic connector thing from my old tc actuator so Im not sure if I would still need to do the the actuator thing you mentioned

But you didn’t reset the adaptations, otherwise you wouldn’t have the fluid wear faults.

There may be ways other than ISTA, but I’ve always used the VTG function in ISTA.
