USB Ipod questions

I have the 6FL/USB option, and I hook up my ipod, but the car doesn't register it as an ipod, only a USB device. (I hooked up via the apple USB thing).

Anyways another thing that is bugging me is when I press "list", the only thing that pops up is "empty list..." and this just flashes forever. No lists or anything eventually come up.

Am I doing something wrong here? Thanks in advance.

P.S. I don't have idrive.

Sounds like you are not using the 6FL cable that is suppose to come with it. If you are using the Apple cable it will not work correctly. If your dealer tries to get you to buy the cable he is scamming you; you are suppose to get one with the 6FL option.
