Taping Trim?

When waxing or polishing does anyone worry about getting polish on the trim or chrome pieces. I was thinking of taping the trim but not sure if I should even worry about it.

If you're using Zaino, you're supposed to do the chrome too. As for the plastic, if you get any on it, a little squirt of 303 takes it off.

Whenever I polish with the PC I end up tapping up the chrome trim on the car just so I don't have to worry about hitting it and scratching it up (or worse stripping the chrome off..)

I also do put zaino on all of the chrome when I'm doing the car... Makes it easier to keep clean.

I was just concerned about using a polisher and getting wax on unpainted parts. I've had the problems on past vehicles when I thought I got it all off but there were still remnant that discolored. I know there are few unpainted parts on the e90 but I was just curious if anyone has had problems getting wax on the headlights, chrome, front grill, etc.

I use Klasse AIO and SG. I purposely apply it to the trim and headlight covers and don't even worry if I get some on the glass.

When using abrasive polishes with a PC, definitely tape the trim. Some waxes also stain trim, but since you will be applying those by hand you can avoid them easily and will not need to tape the trim. For Zaino, it will not stain so you don't have to worry.
