I have heard that the tar removers are harsh on clearcoats. So what should one use, a claybar???

I wouldn'r waste clay on it. Have you tried magic erasers? Someone posted using it and I saw a car version the other day. Meaning to try it but forget. I ususally use some soap and a rag and it comes off.

Just use a tar remover then wash the car and wax.
