Buy ED and have someone else pick it up?

It is possible to buy a car through ED but have a friend pick it up instead? I cant get to germany any time soon by my friend can. Anyone ever ask this?

Yes it has been asked before and the answer was nope can't be done. The owner needs to be present to sign the papers.

any way around it? like have your friend sign the car over after its shipped? i suppose tha twould incur sales tax again.

If you add your friend to your purchase order as a co-owner (but you really have to trust him) - then hi can pick up car in Munich . Hi has to show his passport and BMW ED papers with his name.

There is no third party or power of attorney allowed.If the car is in someone else's name and he transfers it to you, you will have to pay sales tax again.If you don't have a lot of time, fly on Saturday or Sunday nite, pick up and drop off on Monday and return Tuesday.If you can get an early flight,you could be back in CA in the mid afternoon......
