Do lugs being too tight effect the ride?

I recently had my wheels on and off a few ties to get balanced and have a vibration that willnot go away. It never vibrated before that and never needed ubcentric rings.
I have a set of Volks on the car and they give a torque setting for the wheels in the paper that came with them.
The people that took the wheels off never asked me anything about that, and I spaced it until a fewminutes ago.\If the lugs are over tightend on a hubcentric wheel, will that screw up being able to get the wheel centered properly or anyother things?

Are you positive your Volks are hub centric? I know many Volks that require centering rings for a proper fitment.

Over tightening can cause cross threading of the lug bolt and hub. Torque spec is recommend to be 86-88ft/lbs. Anything more, you can risk damaging the car.

well, I am not positive, but i ran them for months before this with no rings and no vibration.
I found some rings but i wnted to check other possibilities since I never needed the rings with these wheels before

Its possible that the hub centric rings were on the car the very first time you had the wheels/tires, and for whatever reason after the wheel/tire was removed from the car, the ring might not have been put back in. Either way the first thing to do would be to put the rings back on, and check if the vibration goes away.

If the vibration stays, you might have a flatspotted tire, or worse, a bent wheel.
