i'd take it to the dealer and have them check it out. you shouldn't need new brakes until the sensor goes off.

Hahah....10K is not bad....

I definitely have premature wear issue.... I have 4700 miles on my 335i and the brake light came on the other day...I don't drive the car very hard, 90% of my driving is highway!!

In the to dealership I go...

My car has 3,500 miles. And I have the brake squeaking noise coming to a stop, since it has about 1500 miles. Is this normal?

I have about 10500 miles and the CBS readout says I have about 25k left on my fronts and 30k on my rears...normal suburban daily driving + 3 autocrosses and 1 track school.

How do I get to this indicator? Or is this a shop only tool?

I agreed. When the sensor goes off, it usually mean the brake pads are worn. If you see 3-4K miles left on the brake services, it means they need to flush the brake fluid. The brake fluids is also used for the manual clutch. I have 29,800 miles on my car and I just had my brake fluid flushed. My brake pads and rotors are fine. No squeaking sounds yet (knock on wood). You can check the rotor for wear by running your finger near the edge (yellow double arrows) to see if there is a grove there. If you can hardly feel a grove, your rotor is fine. Only touch the rotor when it is cool (not right after you been driving). Bring your car in for the squeaking sound.

Brake squeak on the E90 can be due to the front brake sensors that tell the computer how much life is left in the pads. The pads have to be removed and the sensors cleaned to stop the noise.
Brake fluid replacement will not have anything to do with noise.
Furthermoer the computer readout on the dash will tell you before the pads wear right down.
