Can't decide...

I can't decide between getting a Helix FMIC or AR catless downpipes. I only have about $700-800 right now so I can't get both. All i have performance wise is a JB3 1.4 and an aFe DCI.. what would you get first?

tough choice.... i think you'll feel more of an increase with the dp's but you can't go wrong with upgrading the fmic first either! bottomline you need both...lol

i went with AR dps first bro!! they are amazing..cant wait to put them in..
i've pretty much come to this conclusion after reading too many threads
most who dont buy all at the same time..tune-->DPs--->FMIC--->exhaust--->meth?

lol yea i know i need both.. and its just a matter of time, but i know this is a noob question and i should know better.. but is there any harm that catless downpipes can do to our engines? because i know the FMIC's are really good for our engines but I'm a little confused about the downpipes..

im not in your situation, but if i had found a cheap used FMIC first, i woul have done that first. gains on either are about the same, but much safer with a FMIC first, not that DP's are bad. I suggest FMIC then DP, even though i didn't do it that way.. plus, FMIC is more expensive, so if you get that now, its easier to save for the DP's, where as if reversed..

lol this is such a tough choice.. and when i get the intercooler, i need an oil catch can right?

as of right now.. i think i am leaning towards a FMIC first because it's benefits to the N54 and the fact that lostmarine brought up a great point.. it is easier to save up for the downpipes later because they are cheaper..

you should have an oil catch can with stock intercooler... there's so much blow by on these cars. I would say with the AR catless Dp's u will notice more of an increase in power by ur butt dyno... With the FMIC, it's not really giving u power until the higher gears. Like everyone else has said, both are needed but i would do DP's first
