Changing the light color on instrument panel and A/C?

I have run a search, and all it turned up was a thread a few years old where several folks talked about the idea and some eBay kit, but nothing happened.

My aftermarket headunit has a blue light. The instrument panel and climate control have the stock amber light. Is there some kit to change these lights to blue or white? Back when I had a Maxima, there were tons of places to get your instrument lights changed, or kits you could buy online. So far, no luck in finding something similar for my 328Xi.

ETA: Wow, about an hour after I posted this, I ran a Google search looking for kits, and this post came up number one. Those Google guys are quick.

The reason u can't find anything is probably because not many people want it...that's kinda rice if u ask me....I like the Orange..it sets apart BMW from everyone else and is unique.

Don't do this. Change the headunit to amber.

Yea don't do this....but if you must, you have to swap out the LEDs behind the buttons. I don't know which LEDs you need. Only a pro in LED lighting will be able to tell you....and by no means is this a DIY project unless you are very good at soldering microscopic LEDs into boards.

I remember seeing someone do this on e46 fanatics...over in Europe. You can start searching there.

That's consistent with what my car audio installer said. I called him today and he said the amber lights were soldered onto the boards, which is a major pain to change.

Still, I think white or blue instrument lights would be great, rice or not.

OP, found these on my computer. I was interested in doing this when I first got my E46 at 16. I now have matured and don't like it as much....but I have to admit it does look unique.

I like the red/orange...it's very "aircraft" and is supposed to aid your night vision. I need all the help there that I can get.
