Auction prices suggest that car is worth $39-40k. plus $1200 for CPO punch plus any reconditioning they did (new tires etc).
BMW CPO has great incentives for December. I think $42.5-43.5k is a fair offer on your end.

Of course to be fair, that's an 09, this is a 2010 CPO.

If it has Nav then $45k isnt an outrageous asking price, but still should be some room to negotiate.

I am not too sure why the trouble to get it CPOed when it still had all the original factory warranty left. I would still be careful why it went to auction after only 6k miles, if it is clean (no repair history), I will at least try to knock off the CPO cost since the car does not need it.

That's normal and doesn't indicate anything. The majority of pre-owned cars on highline dealers lots are from the auction, not trade in. Besides someone traded it in, what does it matter if it was traded in at a dealership in AZ or TX? Still same year and miles, still traded in. Good to go!

If the tires are in good shape, overall good condition, and you like the rapport you have with the dealer, I'd say go for it.

45K? I say you can start on for 40K. My rule of the thumb is offer about 10% less than initial price because they KNOW they will have to negotiate and thus mark it up a bit when putting advertisement initially. if they want to meet you in the middle, i guess 42K, no more.

12/20/10 MANHEIM Factory $36,000 4,259 Avg
12/20/10 MANHEIM Factory $40,750 5,788 Avg 12/02/10 RIVRSIDE Factory $42,000 8,154 Above 11/19/10 MANHEIM Factory $42,250 9,037 Above ALPWHITE this is what has sold at auction.. base your prices off this.. they paid less than auction but a dealer 9/10 times won't go lower remember auction+auction fee+transport add like 1k to the price |

If it's CPO it can't be a buyback. It would have already shown up.

I find it very strange that a dealership would CPO a 2010 with 6k miles. I was under the impression that older model years with low mileage or newer ones with high mileage were CPO'd as the factory warranty would soon run out. Basically they are including a warranty you do not need and charging you for it. I second the idea of negotiating for the price minus the cost of CPO.

Check out the history of that car, I know at 6k it can be difficult but still you can find out at least where it was originally sold and what was done to it, if any. If you know for sure it is clean, estimate what the CPO cost to the dealer, at least take that amount off. I also agree when it comes to a used car at this price level, don't hesitate to start at $5k off the asking, I would even do more, the worst you can hear is a no. Remeber this is the buyer's market, not the seller's. |

Remember that a manual transmission can have a major negative impact on prices.
While enthusiasts like MTs, the fact is that 95% of the population does not and that makes MT cars much harder to sell and depresses prices. Most cars at the Manheim auction are Autos. |
