Alarm added with flashing BMW led and Remote Key+, 2011 328xi
I just got my car back.
was planning this job for a few weeks and lots of emails to RK+ owners and my tech of Unexpected Creations in Edison NJ. This Thread I have no factory alarm pre-wire on my car. I did not give my installer much room for creativity. I was very specific on exactly what I wanted. We originally thought we'd get the BMW mirror LED to flash using the DEI alarm and to their credit they did!! However, the LEDs used different voltages, and i felt that it wasnt bright enough so i rained on their parade and sent them back to the drawing board. Everything works flawlessly off the factory KeyFOB. The alarm seems to be a very well behaved alarm, its literally just a few wires that tie into the system in an unobtrusive way. Its practically identical to the factory system, very basic protection, with no 'self arming'. I decided to leave chirping off and just use parking lamp confirmations. The system simply monitors doors, and impacts. The Valet switch is tucked away and cleanly mounted under the dash. Along with the DEI 3902T alarm, is the RemoteKey+. The RemoteKey+ is flashing the Mirror LED, and managing the sunroof, mirrors and windows with the keyfob. I love how i can just hook my laptop into the RK+ USB and program it just the way i want, definitely a great feature. It works flawlessly. Both systems play really well together. Window features work great, arming unarming, or leaving the car unarmed, any combination of window/sunroof open and closing still works smartly with the alarm, no false triggers and alarm state cycles properly. Aside from all the time the installers spent with the car, The support i got from the guys at Mods4Cars on the RemoteKey+ was second to none. The rep who i was emailing with was very prompt, and had extensive, very specific knowledge of the vehicle systems as well as the RK+. It was very reassuring. side note... I had a concern that if the car went into sleep mode i would lose features or the LED would stop blinking. Ive left the car armed unattended with the LED blinking for over a week already and have not had a problem. another job well done by 6spdcoupe! I adamantly believe that my car hates Don, and he believes it is evil That said, i couldnt be happier with the operation and subtle customization of my car while it maintains 100% its factory look, and warranty. The blinking mirror money shot! (pardon the garage overhead reflections) Thanks to the community here as well for your support. VP too for his good ideas kicking off this project!

Went ahead and bought the remotekey+ yesterday based off your review. I was looking for something similar. Mainly want the blinking led and the ability to customize it myself.

It's important that you get the instructions and firmware from the mods 4 cars website. Do not use EAS's included photocopied instructions.

Any experienced installer (audio or other 12V) would not have any problems with installation. We are only a phone call or email away if support is needed.

WVU I used Unexpected Creations in Edison nj. He tied in the module w a DEI alarm. The units work perfectly together.
Tom, I must respectfully disagree. The best support I got was when dealing directly with the Mods4Cars techs. The RK+ unit was actually developed a few towns away in asbury park. That said, the photo copied instructions that came with my unit were a mess. They were black and white, out of order, a few pages were missing and others were duplicated. The unit also had outdated firmware that I updated. Just sayin... You guys did ship it fast and I appreciate that WVU, the RK+ module is awesome, I love configuring it with my laptop and I love how well it integrated with the Basic CAN BUS DEI Alarm.
