Question BMW Service Inclusive - worth it?

After I ordered my 335xi, I was offered something called 'BMW Service Inclusive' which covers wear-n-tear maintenance - brakes, belts, etc.

Is it worth it?

Funny they charge $795 for 3 years and $1875 for 4 years.

What's more expensive after all - to pay the replacements myself, or to get this program?

Wear and tear items are normally covered for shorter period of time, probably 3 years for some expensive components. At least judging by that offer.
Sounds like a rip off to me, I would pass.

Quote from the BMW website

BMW will perform the scheduled maintenance services on your vehicle at no expense. The maintenance schedule intervals are determined by the BMW Service Indicator on the check control panel in the dashboard of the vehicle. Requests for more frequent maintenance are not covered by this program.

According to that BMW brochure, wear-n-tear items are NOT covered at all by the basic warranty. Not even 3 years.

The question is, what wear-n-tear items are normally have to be replaced during first 3 years, and what between 3rd and 4th year. I don't know the costs, and I hope some of you guys do, so the question is what's cheaper - pay it myself or get the coverage?

yeah the warranty coverage is better in the states... I debated getting the extra coverage but decided against it.

Yup...wear and tear is not covered in Canada unless you opt for it for extra. Regular warranty just covers manufacturer defect, etc as any other warranty does...

As to whether to get it or not...depends on how much driving you do...and what kind of driving you do.

If you do a lot of city driving and rack up the mileage per year...then yes it's probably worth it. $795 is basically the cost of a brake job. Anything over that will be gravy. They will cover for wipers (whoop), clutch, etc.

The reason for the big jump up for the 4 year program...goes to show that BMW has reasons to believe that most components that wear out and require replacing will be in the 4th year and not 3rd year.

Personally, I got the 3 year service...because I wanted the ease of mind given that this was my first German car.

That kinda sucks! The warranty on my last Audi A6 (an 03 model) covers everything including brake pads and rotors, windshield wipers and light bulbs. I know that for sure because I replaced all of those within the 80,000km 4 year warranty. I didn't pay a cent for anything except tires. They didn't charge for courtesy cars until last year, when they start charging a $10 admin fee.

Right, what's left to find out is how much would be to replace what's usually replaced on 4th year on my own, and compare it to the cost of this coverage.

Anyone?

I forgot if it was BMW or another company..
I asked about the brakes and the sales told me that the brake are garanteeed to last atleast _____km, so if the brakes wear out before that amount of km, then it would be considered a defect and would be covered by the warranty. Is this BS??

Well, I was advised that most BMWs replace their brakes at around 40,000 km. People with more aggressive driving style, and people driving mostly in the city may have to change their brakes every 20-25,000 km. To replace all 4 brakes on 3 series would cost approximately $900.00.
It appears that 3yr. coverage should pay off...
