STi Encounter
I was heading home late night after watching a movie and kickin' it at a my favorite cafe in K-town and while I was stopped at a red light, sprinklers go off on the island next to me and I'm like damn! why now? I just got this beotch washed this morning! so I pull up to the nearest DIY Car wash (DIY, lol) and put three washingtons in the machine and spray away the dirty sprinkler water from my beautiful Jet Black paint. To my surprise there was bird doo doo on my hood and on the side of my trunk so I soap those down as well. I finish off the car with spot-free rinse and drive off towards home. Not even a half-mile away from the car wash, I get stopped by a red light with no other single car in sight within a half mile radius from the intersection. As I'm waiting, I hear super loud exhaust from behind and I look in the rear view and its a blue/white STi. From what I saw, his ride was all done up. Engine mods, I don't know what he had, exhaust was one for sure. Intake, maybe. ECU/Fuel pump, possibly? I could tell at a glance that he had suspension and bodywork done to his car on top of all the stickers he had and let me say, if he had just one more square inch of stickers on his car, I probably would have though his car was a different color. Anyways, he pulls up and I see four people in the car. They all stared at me staring back at them. The driver rolls down his window:
STi driver: "nice car!", Me: "thanks" (but i'm thinking "what's new?". haha just kidding) STi driver: "wanna run?" Me: "my car is wet man, i just got a wash a minute ago" STi driver: "it's cool, i got 4 heads in here" Me: "why not. let's do this." As I think of how wet my tires were and how much wheelspin i'll be stuntin as opposed to that dry-ass-tires-all-wheel-drive-will-jump-up-19-carlengths-ahead-of-you-from-a-dig bastard.......... I activate Damn The Cops (DTC) and on the light, it goes on. Before the light turns green, he yells "let's just go through first and second gear!" I ignore him with the light turning green. What happened after this surprised me. It seemed like we both launched off on the same millisecond but his launch jump up ahead of me but I was already in the process of passing him as I accelerated through second gear. At the next light which was yellow and could I have ran, I stopped and waited for him. He said "good race" with everybody in the car giving me a thumbs up. I gave them a thumbs up, a "see you guys around" before the light turned green. I turned into the freeway, went home, watched Die Hard, and fell asleep. I love my DTC.

350z's ain't got NOTHIN' on our 335's. I've raced many Z's, the last one I've raced was a modded one with intake/exhaust/fully CF'ed out with lightweight rims. We did 4 runs and I felt like the whole time I was running against a Hybrid Honda. That's how bad it is.

I am confused so you actived your DTC? Aren't you limiting your HP by doing that? I recently pondered about DTC. One forum member wrote how he took it off at the track to get raw HP so there wouldn't be any unecessary wheel stopping. So what is the best way to use DTC?

I have not gone against anyone in my 335i yet. I did leave the Togo's Eatery right across the street from Stevens Creek BMW in San Jose..and get on it real hard at lunch today..with my new Ultimate Racing exhaust it sounded mean..real mean. Anyway, the two guys waiting for the bus were checking out the commotion..and were hootin and hollerin when I went by. They seemed to enjoy it..that was the first time I really got on it from a rolling start..and it was soooo sweet. Enjoying my ride immensely.
