Engine Fault 2A2E and 2A2F

I just got a check engine light with 2A2E and 2A2F (Mixture Control and Mixture Control 2) faults. Anyone know what this is and what I should check or replace?

MAF sensor

I don't think it's rotted vacuum . BT scan shows mixture control and mixture control 2 (short circuit or signal interruption). Do you guys think it's a MAF sensor fault?

The referenced thread is all the info we have. You need to buy some time from someone who knows these engines to run through a trouble-shooting fault tree.

Still most likely to be a bad vacuum line somewhere.

I recently changed my air filter. I wonder if it's a loose air filter hose or housing connection ?? :

If not , how can I visually inspect vacuums lines? I assume it's s hose connected to fuel pump?

Any direction would be appreciated.

The air filter is upstream of any problems. The fuel pump isn't air, and is not involved.

The vacuum is essentially downstream of the MAF, including all the various little hoses running into the manifold. Look for cracked rubber, hoses off their nipples, etc.

I drove the car hard over the weekend over long stretched roads and highways . My car normally sees city roads . After an hour the hard Check engine light disappeared but I still smell burnt vapours smells. Not sure if it was a problem with my purge valves being opened. I cleared the fault with my BT tool and it's been a day and so far so good except for burnt vapour smell . Anyone knows what this could be ??

Update:

The mixture fault came back again with a CEL. May need to find an Indy.

I have an 06 330i with 204,000 miles and have struggled with these fault codes on and off over the past 60,000 miles. I brought it to a good independent who changed the 02 sensors and that seemed to work for a while and then probably 10k later it popped up again. Because it was easy to do I changed the MAF and reset the codes and it was good for another 10-15k. Since then I have had it pop up occasionally, usually when I change the air filter it will go away for about 10k or so but recently I have had these codes pop up every 50-100 miles. I am going to break down and have a professional look at it. The car isn't worth much at this point but it is in good shape, runs well and I know exactly what I have so I want to pass it on to my daughter for her first car until she goes off to college. I will post what the mechanic has to say when I bring it in later in July. At this point I have a company car so this car only gets driven a few thousand miles a year.

Brought the car in to Darren at DC Motorwerx. He diagnosed and fixed the problem promptly. It was a vacuum line that was not secured. He was able to re-secure it and the car drives great! Solved the rough idling issue and the mixture control faults.

Also was able to find the source of a awful nasty burnt smell. It was a melted black garbage bag melted on to the chassis.
