Mystery (non-oem) locking lug
Hey all,
Just learned that I own an e92 with aftermarket Bayern Mesh wheels which feature a locking lug nut and (drumroll....) no key. Hopefully you wizards can offer some assistance. Local BMW maintenance shop dude says this is NOT BMW. |

so, obvious questions are.....
1) anyone know what this (who makes it, etc...)? 2) where I can get a replacement key? 3) the the answers to the above are "no", would a place like Tire Rack (south bend) be able to remove this lug when I purchase the 18" Motegi/Conti DWS package I should have bought this past winter? |

Just trash the lock.
A place like Tire Rack would be able to remove a locking lug like that. I bought a prior car with missing key for locks and Belle Tire was able to remove all 4. |

Just get something like this:
Or you can try the old socket-that's-too-small trick. Either way, just ditch the locks and replace them with a brand that you know you'll have the key for.

Hey all, I have my tirerack order on the way and now need to get serious about finding a way to remove this lug. I appreciate the replies above but someone has to recognize this oddball spline pattern. As you can see, it's 7 splines but spaced on one half for 8 and then on the other side there are two, more spaced out splines. Anyone recognize this? Co-workers were trying to tell me this is a standard McGard or Gorilla 7 spline lug but that was before I noticed the non-uniformity.
Anyone? |

If you pick a right size socket and hammer well, you are good. Will ruin the socket and that bolt for sure. That HomeDepot gator grip one is promising. Spray some liquid wrench on under it beforehand though.
