custom color

can i order custom color from BMW on the 3 series ? i know audi lets you do that

i know they have that option when u order an alpina series but ive never heard of them doing it for a 3 series.

My salesman told me they'd do it for $2,400. This was very common on the E46 M3s when they first came out, as people weren't thrilled with the color choices. (Or wanted the E36 M3 colors) Most dealers don't even know that it's possible to "paint to sample", but it is.

I know that you could not do it on 07 models. BMW has done it in the past. Perhaps they are now offering it on the 3 series. Man, would I have loved to have ordered Imola or Indianapolis red!

Doesn't BMW Individual offer a few different custom colors?

The reason most dealers wont do it is because they dont want to be stuck with a color that someone orders which wont sell, since in the US the buyer isn't obligated to buy the car even after its ordered, or atleast that's what I've heard. I know they have the individual program for the 7 series though.

Very true. The crazier the color, the larger deposit they will want up front, normally not on a credit card. (Even "non-refundable" car deposits must be refunded when a credit card is used, because the vendor agreement states that a credit card may only be used for a completed transaction.) I worked at a dealership when I was in high school a bit over 10 years ago, and they had a Mercedes Benz 500 SE (before the sedans went to the S500 naming convention) in the ugliest purple color ever. The lot manager got so pissed after a while that he almost fired a guy that referred to it as "the Barney car" once.

I am not sure for the US but I have a custom color E90 335i on order. Things might be different here in Canada.

Nothing exotic. Silver Grey A08. Had it on my E46 M3 and I loved it. If Space Grey would have been available on the E90 I would have settled for it. I also ordered my car with Piano Black trim and Terra leather.

I was offered a custom color of my choice at purchase, carbon black like the E46 m3, but I opted into alpine white after seeing all the pictures here.

It's really gorgeous. The added price was 2,400$, turned it down tho
