HID mounting question

Is it necessary to mount the capacitors with screws to the wall of the engine bay? I attached mine with zip ties to my bumper instead. My hid's do work but now and then the drivers side will not turn in and will display a bulb out error on the dash. My car is a 7/07 build.

Are you talking about the ballasts? You need to make sure anything electronic is not exposed to any possibility of water ingress. Bumper is not a good location.

I've got it mounted on the engine side of the metal bumper. Since it's shielded by the bumper cover and splash guards it looks pretty safe to me.
