335D how much TQ is to much TQ
Hey guys was looking over one of the shop cars and I started thinking....how much TQ is to much TQ This is what our long distance cruiser 335D shop car (Project Polar Bear) just put down...and its 96F here kind of concerned about the trans holing up over long term...

Looks fun! Though probably very peaky, wonder what EGT's they're seeing.
Without seeing the whole graph, Its hard to say what is actually happening with this dyno run, and if its really bad for the transmission, Can you post the whole graph? From the little bit you show, the WHP is not terribly high at 324hp, and the torque output is quite high at 621. So I'd infer that its likely there is either a measurement anomaly, or they have a brief torque spike at lowish RPMs due to a tune issue (or on purpose). 324whp, isn't super high for these engines, and can be made well with in the limits of the stock transmission. The 6hp28/6hp26tu on the 335d is rated at a maximum input torque of 700nm / ~516lbft. My non-expert opinion is that the transmission would be at risk of accelerated wear and premature failure, but doesn't that really depend on how you drive it? If your not flooring it all the time, then its probably gonna last a long time. The extra torque only happens under high throttle conditions which people don't see all the time on the street. If your tracking the car, I'd probably upgrade the tranny for longevity. |

I concur w castle if you drive like you stole it everytime you wont last long but if its just the common daily driver and a couple of burst here and there it should last awhile
