Got a K+DCAN cable and Standard Tools (not working)

Picked up a K+DCAN cable on Amazon for $18. Lights up for a few minutes then turns off and I lose connection. Trying to get some live data, unable to do so, thoughts?

Most of the time it's your installation of Inpa and/or Ista d
that is the problem.
Or sometimes its that the pc does not have all the stuff
installed on it that it needs like Netframwork and all the C++
microsoft software.
You did not describe where you got these or what you did
to install them . There are also better and worse Cables
but most of them will at least work for the simple stuff.

I got software from bimmergeeks and cable on Amazon. Got it working, had to edit COM ports they were different.
