e90 Sidemarker lights help
OK I finally got the dag-gum sidemarker off of my car. I am switching them over to LED's but now I can't get the darn white peice off. I have pulled and pry'd but it still won't come off, any help out there? Thanks, just scared of breaking the piece off.

I think you twist it then pull.

You have always had to twist previous models
Cant you lift that tab slightly with a small screwdriver and then twist it ?

dont be afraid of breaking the tabs off, they're pretty resiliant! just lift them up a lil and turn...

Here are pics with the side marker off. Careful with the wires that go to it. If they fall back inside or you put them there they are hard to get back.
This is for the Left side marker. I finally got the white piece off, if you look at my second pic, where you can see the white piece. The 2 silver things that hold that white long piece from turning. Of those 2 one is slightly slimer, (on this particular one it is on the right side, the one you can't see). What you have to do(or I should say what I did) was take the o ring and roll it up so all that you can get is on the white piece then the piece has a little wiggle room. Then push down on it while prying the white piece up so it can rotate over the smaller gray side / piece then it comes out. No my only problem is that they don't work because they send up an error, so I have to wire in a resistor. Gonna have to sit and think if I want to go through with this now, or just try to do it in conjunction with a corner delete mod or not. Thanks for the help guys. |

you slide the the side marker towards the rear of the car and lift up on the end that is nearest to the headlights. it just slides off.

Thats all I did was push it to the rear of the car and the front just pretty much popped out u might need to use somethign to leverage it from underneath if it helps just make sure its somethign real slim and won't damage your paint

Elementary my dear Watson. Simply get a small screwdriver and GENTLY pry back the white plastic tab. Now you can twist it. If you break the white tab, don't fret. It's not absolutely necessary.

I have LED's from JLevi but they don't light up and throw an error so I am just gonna wait and see what I want to do, either in conjunction with the CDM and changing the signals to LED's or just not do them at all.

Leave the sidemarker bulbs alone, and do the CDM.
JLevi's stuff is good, but their website seems to have innacurate info, atleast for the e90. Examples: 1. the instructions for LED replacement for front turn signals are for the e46, not e90. 2. apparantly, the sidemarker LED's are not plug-n-play

LEDs for sidemarkers do not throw an error message for the same reason the PIAA LEDs do not throw an error message for the angel eyes. The resistance for the tiny incandescent bulbs they replace is very low.

Yes I wonder too, because it does throw one and does not even light up. All other signals work on both sides but not the LED's. Which is wierd because when I put LED back up lights in they send an error but they DO light up.

LEDs (Diodes) are directional. If a LED doesn't work, disconnect and turn it the other way.
