Replace or Clean Air Intake Filter? (Simota CF Intake v1)

So I've been running a Simota CF Air Intake (version 1) for quite a while now. This is the exact one I bought (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=simota+intake)

I'm going to either clean, or replace the air intake. I'm thinking cleaning will be my best option, as I don't know how or where I'm going to find the specific filter for this intake as I believe it is a discontinued model. My questions are:

- How long will a filter last? At what point should it be replaced, instead of just cleaning it?

- Any idea where I could get a replacement for this filter? It requires a pretty specific shape
