Ready to install headers and intake

I m finally ready to installed the AA headers, 3 stage intake and off road tune. Have all the parts and the shop where to get it installed

I just want to make sure everything goes smooth. Is there anything I should be aware of for the headers or intake. For example I remember reading sometime ago about the screws AA send with the headers , something about the screws being a different material , I m not sure if this was an issue or not

But I m just trying to look for advice from people who have done both and ran into problems

Also , is there any other maintenance that can be done once the headers and intake are out. I wouldnt mind changing a component as preventative maintenance if I can save on labour now rather than take everything apart again once the component fails.

Please any advice is welcome !

With regards to maintenance, I don't think there is really anything you can do while working on these two items - maybe change the AC and engine air filter? Maybe spark plugs? Maybe head cover gasket - if it is leaking?

Highly unlikely, but IF your starter was acting up, you can replace it, since it's under the intake.

Just a note -- there's going to be idle fluctuations for the first 200 miles. It's normal. If it lasts longer than that, then get it checked out.

yea Im excited and at the same time a bit nervous. The car has been running great and all , last thing I want is problems risen after the installation

At the same time I feel the car needs a little more power and I've been on this forum long enough to see it is possible to get it where I want it so that makes me excited

thanks guys

If there is something that's about to take a shit in your car, it's going to take a shit regardless if you do headers or not. The headers don't cause anything bad to happen except for your O2 sensors.

Just get a new filter, it's as easy as that.

Mark the o2 sensors to make sure you install them in the correct spot.

guys running AA headers here with stock exhaust and secondary cats still in

Should the car smell like fuel inside the cabin after the headers are installed. I have read that running headers with no cats gives you the fuel smell , however I m planning on leaving secondary .... I had headers on my civic before and I never really smelled like fuel inside or outside the car , only on cold starts but it usually went away

No smell.

The only time I smell anything is at the first start and if I have door or window open and the wind blows exhaust fumes in my direction. And even then it's very faint.

If you start smelling it in the cabin then you might have a leak. Unlikely but I might happen.

Same for me, no fuel smell inside the cabin.

I m dropping the car later today to get intake and headers installed.

I was wondering if you guys installed the new screws and nuts that came with headers or if you guys used the existing nuts and screws from factory.

I would use new screws, exhaust is one of the first places they rust and you don't want to be fighting them.

the nuts at the headers are usually copper and can only be used once.

Does the off road tune get rid of the CEL and allow the car to pass emissions?

Ok so I picked up the car. The installation was flawless , big ups to rocco at RMP motors! great guy , lots of help , specially on getting the 3 stage intake , he even had to modified the intake a little bit.

Back to the test drive.
Sounds - Its not loud or quite , I actually like it as it has a bit of a roar. I know over time this will change so I will have to wait and see

Smell- zero smell in cabin , I know some people were asking

power - I must say the car pulls harder specially in the 3-5 rpm range, unfortunately there was a lot of traffic so I did not have many chances to get it there. The car was just tuned too so I m guessing the power may get better as I drive more ( same as with the AA tune)

price - parts were around 1030 us ( 900 for headers , 130 $ for intake) , installation plus update for the tune ( I already had aa tune) was 900 $ Canadian which is roughly 700 us , however my mechanic forgot my car was all wheel drive and there was more labor involved , he still honor the price

I m happy with the update , the car now pulls harder ( still not 335 ) and it feels like ti should ve felt from the start.

I made a little video , please keep in mind a few things , I never fully press the gas pedal to the floor as I really dont like doing it on my car ( yes I know) and I also took to red lime ( 6 000 rpm) for a little bit for the sakes of showing how the car pulls.
This is not a zero to 60 test or anything like that .

1 this video is before the test, I only pushed the car hard for a bit since this is a road monitor by cops . I was surprised on how slow it looked on the video , it def feels faster live

2 this is a video with the headers and 3 stage intake right after I got the car. I did not want to floor it all the way from 0 to 60 as I was still afraid something could go wrong. But you can see the car pulls harder. I m guessing after full adaptation it may be a bit better but I m happy the way it is now

I ll try posting another video in a week or so after adaptations are done and once I get a feel on the car. I m still in the test period , making sure everything else is ok
