Failed Inspection
So I recently failed my MA state inspection on my 2012 n55 e92. I have a cobb pro tune and high flow cats with no o2 light (without the cobb on).
I can't really figure out why I failed. My sheets show all ready/pass or not supported. Has this happen to anyone else? I unmarried the cobb and putting on my mufflers soon to go through MAC... |

It could be that you didn't drive your car long enough to reach readiness OR maybe it's that your HFC cannot pass emissions. Many people have said that HFC will not pass emissions.

However those who have said the HFC did not passed emissions. FAIL the o2. I however passed. Also as I mentioned in my original post, everything is checked for ready or pass.

I did not notice that you passed o2. It may be the other part of my post where I said you have not driven enough miles. When you uninstall the Cobb tune, you have to drive through a full cycle before you can pass emissions.

I am starting to think that may be the issue but I have already driven it pretty extensively.

It was the catalyst and catalyst heater monitors. Do you have the Cobb tune set to suppress O2 faults? showing not ready on cat faults is the same "not ready" in most states. Every new car has a cat, no reason for it to show up as not supported. Remove the Cobb tune and drive it for a few days without clearing faults. Then the monitors should come online and allow you to pass (as long as you don't throw a code for the downpipe)

Looks like the cobb is interfering with the 02 sensor. That's why you see it stated on your emissions printout saying it's not supported, if it was a CEL it would have said 'fail' instead. I do not have cobb so I can't confirm that's exactly why but I'm pretty confident that's the cause to your failure.
I would remove the cobb and buy a cheap readiness monitor, or have autozone test for readiness, then go back for emissions testing when you know for sure that everything is okay.

I was flagged for MAC. The guy although very polite was a dick. Everything was back to stock and he refused to raise the flag. I had to go to bmw to get a invoice saying I had stock software and etc. I did that and still he made me wait a month. He probably would have made me wait even long if I didn't keep calling him.

Edit. I do know that a high flow cat will eventually throw a CEL. I am at 30k with no issues using the cat so far. |

Go research other guys in the forum with aftermarket downpipes and you will conclude the same.

I have seen the posts... I am not arguing with you about them eventually throwing cels. It is obviously the cat will eventually break down. YOU however worked it to sound like you concluded it from my situation after asking for the brand of the downpipe I am using.

Colin,
I thought the Cobb suppresses the O2 monitors, so they could have flagged you automatically since you left your Cobb married. Better option would have been to remove/untune the cobb completely and drive the full cycle. I passed with jb4 off, cobb unmarried, no cat and the o2 catsim lol |
