I do find this new disk takes more time to calculate the route. Is this just me? Is it worth burning a new copy?

Just tried the Single Layer +R and got the same results regarding the camera POI's. It is noticeably faster and the hesitant image draws are gone, so definitely better in that respect. I can't understand how simply removing the other languages would have this effect.. But it's probably time to stop loosing sleep over this and just get a Dual Layer +RW!! |

Thought I'd Download another copy... just in case.
Found a copy on btJunkie that's being seeded well and coming down at over 700 kB/s (~6mb) Just search for 'BMW' and you'll find it dated 06/15. Edited to ask: Do the 06 Models with Pro Nav take DL Disks as I'm showing a message that just says enter the DVD.. which is in? No major issues as after downloading the new copy and removing the languages (which is what bulks up to the DL disk), I'm running properly now with all the cameras shown. Must have been a slightly corrupted version (by me or from the BT link)... Last edited by alcook; 06-28-2008 at 11:59 AM.. |

There's no links between burn and read speeds.
I'm not sure of the technical specs, manufacturer and therefore overall quality & ability of BM's CD & DVD readers, but very roughly: Disks are burned by a laser which turns on and off to place 'pits' onto the disc. As you increase the burn speed, then the rate at which the laser can turn on and off must also be increased. At the higher end of the speed scale it's possible that instead of clean sharp pits, you might end up with gradual slopes on the edges. When a reader later scans these sloped pits the reader may have a harder time distinguishing what's a 1 or 0. Errors will be produced and therefore it will have to go back and re-read that track. I'm aware of tests using an electron microscope to compare DVDs burned at high and low speeds. The one burned at high-speed had pits that were somewhat "blurred". of course this is all dependent upon the particular burner and disk quality, as burning at 2x on a poor device will be worse than 4x or higher on a good device. But rule of thumb would be to burn at slower speeds to reduce errors. |

made a dual layer disc the other night.
no real change between performance of the DL to the single layer one I made. also speed cams still missing, so removing other countries doesn't change it too much regards Bren |

Bren, what size does Explorer say your ISO file is?
I downloaded one that was 575 GB and that was the one I had issues with the scameras, I re-downloaded from another site and it was 577 GB. This one was fine once I'd moved to a +R disk. With the non-English languages removed to fit on a single layer mine reads 417 GB. This may help.... Last edited by alcook; 07-07-2008 at 10:51 AM.. |

Sorry to be anal but the above could be a bit confusing. We are talking Gigabytes here.
Referring to the ISO linked to by Vivek: With the non UK languages removed the ISO is 4.17 GB or 4,488,134,656 bytes (using Ultra Iso to remove the contents of the non UK language directories - not the directories themselves) The complete ISO is 5.77GB or 6,201,278,464 bytes This isn't to say I have got it working. I have tried the complete ISO on Verbatim DL and the cut down disk on TDK +R - neither can be read by the DVD reader. Using memorex DVD +RW the maps and TMC data can be read but no POIs - the meaasge "no entries available" appears. I am wondering whether I have deleted too much data from the ISO or whether there is an issue with reading certain types of disks on a March 07 car Tony PS - I have just re-recorded using Nero at 2.4x speed using Verbatim DL and the full ISO works perfectly and seems very fast.

Hi Guys,
Just found this forum and this new Sergei DVD sounds like something I need. Where is the best place to download it from? I've not had any experience of using peer-to-peer file sharing software so some advice on which client to use and some do's & don'ts PC security would be appreciated. Many thanks Sean |

I am really struggling burning a working copy of Sergei's pro nav 2008 – 2 with camera locations.
I have downloaded the torrent via BitLord from here: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4240...ean_Speed_Cams I am using Verbatim DVD+R DL dvds and burning it with Nero software. I have burn two copies so far and neither work. I would really appreciate a simple and fool proof step by step guide. Thanks in advance Jonny

One way of saving yourselves some discs is to edit the downloaded iso file, as I've described here, & burning onto an ordinary single-layer DVD+RW. Viv |
