Swirls in CT
Help!! My new car (delivered in 1/06) has only been washed twice during the winter when I really needed to get the salt off. The first was a simple machine wash followed by a towel dry at the local car wash. The second time I had the same place do a "hand wash" to prevent swirls. Well, what happened is that the car is now completely covered with swirls--all over!!! The guy at the car wash claims that it comes from the factory like this.
So, I've learned my lesson. The guy at the local car wash is full of it and there is clearly no point in arguing with this guy. My questions are 1) Is there any place in central CT where I can get the swirls out at what kind of service should I be looking for (I live in an apt. which make self washing impossible); and 2) where can I get my car washed in the future to prevent this annoying problem. |

never towel dry the car by rubbing it...try to soak the water off by using a fine soft cloth like material with a dabbing not rubbing motion and only go to touchless car washes where nothing touches the car but water

Hey i'm in North Haven. ITs not easy to keep swirls out of your car, and with a darker color your bound to get them. step 1 - never bring it to a car wash, i had mine washed by the dealer and they practically ruined it.
I dont really know of any professional places that will do the car for you and get all the swirls out, but if you want to meet up sometime i can look at the car and see if i can do some of it with you. depending on how deep the swirls are if you want to spend a day we can get the car looking like new. Send me a PM and maybe we can meet up sometime if you want me to take a look.. i have a SG car and i've had it for about 6 months now and i have very very few swirls. Even if you spend an hour washing it your bound to get swirls from the winter time though. IN the future, maybe bring the car to one of those do-it-your self car washes and bring your own soap, spunges, towels, just use their water. i know theres one in wallingford, but thats far, its called Scrubbin bubbles |

If the swirls are just from a terry cloth drying job then they should come out easily with a hand wax applied by yourself with a microfiber removal of the wax.

I think the swirls will come out no problem. I stoped by a detail shop and they felt that a standard detail w/polish and wax will solve the problem.

Most dealerships wash the car before they give it to you. That's what mine did, so I was screwed from the beginning.
