iPhone 3G working perfectly

There is hope for those who want to use their iPhone 3G with their Bimmer. Mine works flawlessly. My car is a 2008 335i with the latest software update from BMW, I believe version 30? No iDrive.

I have an iPhone 3G with software version 2.0. My phone paired perfectly, works fine, did notice the echo the first day but it is gone now, don't know what I did or did not do. And ALL of my contacts show up!

Ditto

I'll second sgrimess' experience. It was a 30 second exercise. My new 3G iPhone paired flawlessly with my 335i with I-Drive, (3 days ago). No echo and all contacts are showing.

Do you know how to tell the software version in our car? I don't know which mine is.

I am having issues with my iPhone 3G while my iPhone 2G w pre-2.0 software had worked perfectly. Addressbook is not synching.

2008 328i convertible, w iDrive. Built Dec 2007.

Hmm, you might want to double check your contents.

I got my address book to update last night by changing my sort order settings. However I noticed that some of my address book entries were only partially complete.

I have myself, for example, in my address book with both my cell and home numbers. The car only sees my cell number, my home one isn't in there.

Haven't had time to see if I could find any other cases of partial numbers.

Another update.

I just called BMW customer relations. They said they are aware of the issues and working really hard to get the iPhone 3G on their compatibility list.

Sounds like they're working with Apple and that this may be fixed in a future Apple firmware update.

They don't believe that update any of the car software will be necessary.

In my case (I've have 2008 335i delivered in April 2008 w/idrive), with the 3G , all addresses are showing on the idrive screen, but in some cases I have six numbers on one contact using "custom labels", these custom labels do not show up on idrive -whereas they did with the old phone.

I can confirm this issue.

On my phone, I have:

eisenb11 [home]
eisenb11 [mobile]

My car shows:

eisenb11 [mobile]

This doesn't happen with all entries, just some which is why it took me so long to stumble upon the problem. I was trying to call home and it wanted to call my cell each time.

I'm having issues with mine. Contacts and everything sync fine, thats perfect. Theyre all correct, etc. BUT IT ECHOES! Every phone call except maybe 1 or 2 since I've had 3g paired with my car has echoed and its extremely annoying. Is there anything I can do to fix this? maybe re-pairing the phone? I was about to make a thread about this when I saw this one.

Others in the forums have reported the echo will go away if you adjust the volume on the iPhone during an active call over the BMW BT. This only needs to be done one time to somehow calibrate the BT connection.

Excellent! Thanks for the info. My 3G paired perfectly first time and my contacts showed right up, but the echo was really bothersome. Hopefully the volume adjustment will do the trick.

I have a 2007 April build 328i with iDrive (never been updated). Paired the wife's iPhone with no issues, all works great just as good as my K850i does!

This is DEFINITELY not the bluetooth in the car. I have a Motorola bluetooth earpiece that also echoes with the iPhone 3G.

I'll have to try my Jawbone to see if that one echoes.
