Vorsteiner Boot Lid
Ok im intrested in purchasing a vorsteiner boot lid for my car. However i do not understand the whole cf , plastic thing. I want it to be painted and have that thin strip of carbon on the top of the lid . But i dont know if you can order them this way or if it has to be a CUSTOM TYPE job. I have searched but i havent found a direct answer to my question so eny help would be much appreciated. For a better refrence of what im talking about here is a picture to explain what i mean with the carbon fiber strip on top of the lid.

To achieve that effect, you want the single sided version. Your body shop can mask off the tail and paint the rest of the trunk, then peel the tape to leave it exposed.

Paint fading is quite difficult and requires a delicate hand. We recommend having it masked off in a straight line unless your bodyshop is familiar with the process.

I would either leave it all CF, paint it completely, or find a shop that can do the fade technique. Having a CF strip that ends abruptly at the edge of the trunk looks retarded.

lol i had no clue this thread was gonna last more then 3 posts .But i am glad to see people posting up pics and giving helpful info. For the record I was inspired by your car jlevisw... I think the strip of carbon really gives it that edge of uniqueness and flare . Luckily i have a shop nearby that i completely trust. To tell you the truth i like faded and straight through alot . White08m3's car looks beautiful .

Very cool, our photographer will be taking more shots this weekend so you can have a look. The straight edge is a safe bet but if done right, the fade is absolutely stunning.
