Tire Indicator Question

Got the damn tire flat indicator light for the first time this AM.

I inspected all four tires, and cannot see anything. In this situation, do you guys take it to National Tire & Battery, or to the stealership?

Also, is there a known issue/error with this indicator coming on? (Tire may have just lost air?)

Thanks

You will not notice if they are low on air because they are runflats..the indicator light comes on sometimes when the temperature changes. Get a tire guage and check each tire. Fill them up to spec if they are low and reset the incicator light(check manual for that). I know how to do it through the i drive only, sorry

Pressurize them back to normal and watch what happens. If you do in fact have a flat tire stay away from the dealers, unless of course you have a money printer at home.

This happened to me last fall, and it is most likely the answer. If you check your tire pressure with a guage, you'll probably notice that they're all down about 5-7 psi. I didn't get a TPMS warning this morning, but I've been keeping my tires topped off over the past few weeks in anticipation of the cold weather coming.

I just had the tire warning light come up for the first time today too (but strangely, this evening rather than this morning when it was colder). This was new for me so I was quasi-freaking out until I came on here and saw that false alarms are fairly common. Thanks, guys! But I'll be sure to check out my tire pressure.

Oh yeah, question: are Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires run-flats? I know that run-flats should say "RFT" on the sidewall and I don't see that, so can I assume these PS2's are not run-flats??

What would I do without you guys? Tire indicator issue fixed!

Checked pressure. Added 5 PSI to each tire. Reset. All good! Thanks

Took a little longer for the cold to reach the mid atlantic states, but it just happened to me in MD. On way out the door to work yesterday, got the red warning. Not being used to rfts, I walked around the car and saw nothing wrong. Drove short distance to work, left car out all day. (was in low 30s in AM, rose to low 60s in afternoon.) Came back and light was still on, drove home. Same warning this morning. Went to gas station and checked pressures. The fronts were down to 26 and the rears to 28.

So, I filled them up to 32 front, 38 rear, and reset the tpms. I have non-iDrive in a 2007 328i, and when parked, I navigated through the menu to the reset button for the tire pressure system, and held the button down for 5 seconds. It indicated that it was resetting, and then within 2 mins or so the yellow light disappeared.

Interestingly, the pressure warning red light automatically turned off on its own immediately after the tires were filled while the car was off, but the yellow light didn't disappear on restart until I reset the system.

We'll see if everything's golden when I get to the car tonight!
