BimmerLink reset brake service

Tried to reset my “front brake service” via BimmerLink…

Originally had no dash lights or errors, just wanted to reset the mileage since I recently did the front brakes and sensor

However, after resetting via BimmerLink… now my car has the red “brake” light illuminated on the dash cluster and gives me the red car on lift symbol.

I also just tried going through the BC stalk - not BimmerLink, and tried to manually reset. When going into the “service menu” in the cluster, my front brake service displays —- for mileage and no actual numbers, and is in yellow and not red

Edit: ok pretty sure BimmerLink screwed something up. I even tried clearing any stored codes and still gives me —— (dashes) for my brake mileage remaining and won’t reset.

I THINK the sensor works on voltage or current to tell if the sensor is making a ground. Since my sensor never went off, but I still replaced I am thinking that since I tried to reset with “full voltage” the car isn’t detecting any difference in voltage from a worn vs new senor, so it won’t allow me to rest. Does this sound right?

How can I trick my car to think it’s a worn sensor? Some way to ground it without ruining the new sensor?

I did this twice.
“I’ll just reset it so it’s good for next time” and bam!
Error light turned on. Learned my lesson and won’t do it again.

I’m of no help as I just twisted the 2 brake wires.

Contact the bimmerlink dev, I talked to him before, he's really helpful with problems.

That was my exact thinking, and now I’m annoyed
I’ve used BimmerCode with success and figured I’d try BimmerLink… nope never again, I’ve requests a refund through Apple

You think a shop with ISTA could force a reset without me screwing with the sensor and wiring?

Guys, bimmerlink is made by a BMW enthusiast, at least contact him and give him a chance to fix it before you refund. Because when I contacted him he was super nice and helped me fix my issues.

Eh well I dod, explained the situation… and the response o got was “you need to replace the sensor or unplug it and plug it back in”

Not helpful at all. It’s a brand new sensor.
I’ll certainly try the unplug/replug but I am thinking that it’s not going to fix it

Well, how about you try (the unplug thing) first before you judge him on not being helpful.

And if it doesn't work, contact him again, tell him the sensor is new, and he'll probably have another idea.

Same thing as an IT person telling me to turn off and turn back on my computer.

Well big surprise, I tried it and it didn’t work.
Already told him that in a reply and no answer yet.

ISTA should be able to. It has a procedure for correcting the CBS.

Wish there was a way for me to send you my ISTA instance. It’s just too big to share using any of the free file upload sites…
