Intermittent Trunk Open Warning (2010 E93)
I have a new to me 2010 328i Cabrio. I love it! It does have an issue where the trunk open dash light and chime warning intermittently go off. I could be driving an hour or more and all is fine. Stop for a bit, put the roof up, then drop the top before continuing and the open trunk warning goes off. I used to stop to make sure it is closed and it is. Sometimes it happens when going over rough road, but more often it happens on smooth pavement. It may go off repeatedly for a while and then stop. I thought it was only when the top is down, but happened yesterday with it up.
Curious if anyone else experienced this as the thought of chasing a short or a sensor is unappealing. Can the chime be programmed to not alert (I'd rely on the dash light) as a workaround? I do not have Bimmerlink (yet) just working up enough uses cases to justify it. Thanks! |

The sensor is in the latch. Could be that or a wiring problem, most likely in the boot that goes to the trunk. Not sure if it's different on the convertible though (could it have more sensors?).
