Zaino = bugs!

Ever since I started using Zaino a month or two ago my front bumper, windshield and mirrors get covered with BUGS every time I drive.

It's definitely not just me, because I drove the car for 5 months prior to using Zaino and I only saw a few bugs from time to time. Now it's a crazy amount each time I drive, especially on the highway.

I can't decide whether it is:
i) The timing. I got my car in Nov 05 so the first 4-5 months of driving were in the winter (few bugs).
ii) The Zaino. I have a feeling the Zaino is adding some resistance and making the bugs stick to the bumber/windshield rather than allowing them to tumble off upon impact.
iii) Both i) and ii)

Thoughts?

If anything the Zaino should make the bugs stick less. I think it's the timing. The nice thing about sealants at least is they make cleaning off the bugs that stick that much easier.

since a month of 2 ago the bugs have just started coming out.... before 2 months ago it was still cold out and there were no bugs flying around everywhere. It has nothing to do with the timing, its just that its now warm, and warm = bugs. Dont blame Zaino

It's got to be the timing, not the product. Besides, when you whack a bug at highway speeds, the last thing they will do is tumble off of your car's surface (windshield, bumper, mirrors, etc.). They're gonna splat, leaving you a mess.

Zaino smells great which may attract bugs.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I agree - I love the smell of Z6. Can't get enough of it.

I have no idea how that's happening to you. pander5 (member from this board) came over a couple of weeks ago to detail my car and since then I've noticed even after going two weeks without a car wash (HOLY CRAP!) I have next to no bugs on the front bumper. Compare that to just before the detailing and my front bumper would be hard to see with all of the bugs on there after two weeks, or 400 miles of driving. I'm really very very impressed at how well whatever the hell it was Paul (pander5) put on there because it's working extremely well. I know he uses Zaino products almost exclusivley so it had to be a Zaino product.

Its that and also the speed you drive. The faster you go the more bugs will stick.

Nikki - try not to take paper towels and Windex to your paint if you can help it!!! I carry a little "crap repair kit" in my trunk that is a small MF towel and some quick detail spray. Simply store them in a plastic baggie. I use it for bugs, bird bombs, tree pollen blobs etc. Try to get after them as soon as you can before they get crusty and begin to etch.

I saw my neighbor about a month ago take some paper towels and Windex to her TiAg Z3 to remove some bug splats and couldn't believe it. That approach is very harsh on your cleacoat and is guaranteed to swirl.

BMWExec - I can tell you that you have 2 layers of Z5 and one layer of Z2Pro on your entire car. Each layer seperated by Z6 and a final layer of Z8. Should be enough to simply wipe away any nose crap with some Z6 and a MF towel.

Maybe if you do it all the time, or if you have a black car, but just to get bugs off two or three times a year I don't think it will really kill it.

Unfortunately, it really will. pander5 knows what he is talking about. Taking a paper towel to your paint is like wet sanding your car. Go out to the store and pick up a few MicroFiber clothes for 5 bucks, or some good ones for 10 bucks and your car will be much happier. I'd think that you'd think your car was worth it. I know mine sure as hell is. I've spent close to $500 in detailing supplies for my baby and $150 of which is soley invested in MicroFiber towels.

Whatever. I'd just think someone who owns a $40K+ car would at least spend 5 minutes and $10 to buy something the car really deserves.

You can come do it if you want? You'd probably be able to do it for what 6 cents?

I'm pretty sure this guy used paper towels to clean his car.

There's a big difference between cleaning entire panels of your car and cleaning a couple bugs off your front bumper. No one in a detail forum will agree with me, and I don't care. It's just a car. There are more important things to me in life than the cleanliness of my car.
