UUC SSK Review - Slight Problem
So I got the UUC Evo3 SSK installed this weekend, and thought I'd report on my findings. The 1-2 shift is dramatically better than stock, with a crisp, solid feel now. It makes the car so much more fun to drive, definitely an improvement across all gears. One problem I ran into is the neutral position is now about an inch farther to the right. First gear is now where third was and so on. It doesn't affect the shifting, but just looks and feels a bit odd. It looks like the lever isn't bent the same way as stock. Has anyone else noticed this problem. Other than this I love the feel, but hopefully I'll be able to figure out the issue. Thanks to everyone on the forum!

in the direction it says "this shifter's bend should be forward and to the left, viewed with lower pivot holes transverse to chassis"
just asking because i will be installing mine soon |

The bend should be forward and to the left, you can install it incorrectly oriented the other way:

i just installed last nite. what a pain in the ass. but i did it.
yea OP's install is wrong. my neutral pretty much where it was. i left the hight the way it was, the throw and positive action feels great. theres slightly more effort but ti doesnt bother me i am glad i got this. shifter feels great, driving experience is totally different now (just installed the m3 steering wheel as well along with a e46 zhp knob from way back when) the oem lever feels so crappy compared to the new one next up: tranny mounts with reinforcers |

it toko me 4 but i was being stupid. shouldnt take you more than 2 if you follow directions. you dont have to drop the tranny but installing the screws for the adaptor from the top is time consuming. theres limited space but you can do it if youre patient.

It took me about an hour and a half, jack stands on all 4 corners and stopping to take pics. The hex wrench I ground down was a HUGE time saver since there is zero space when installing the new carrier adapter.
I had already installed one on my Z4M so that car was my learning curve, might take about 2 hours if you are new to BMW SSKs.

What's your cars build date? The guys at uuc think maybe my shifter is different since I had mine installed at a place uuc knows and trusts. I'm an April 07 build date. My stock lever has a bend in it, but the uuc one was straight. Thanks again |

Nope, mine was exactly the same. I sent it to UUC, it turns out that some models had a different bend in the stock shifter. UUC says they are making a new version to fit my model and it should be ready soon. I'll update the thread as soon as I get the new one from UUC. My build date is April 07.
