Somewhat unrealistic, don't you think? For many people, anyway.
Leases are stated with the mileage being per year...15K per year.

At least put one security deposit down and tell your dealer you will split the max markup with him...you should be down to 0.0022 then...you can also put 7 additional SD's down to lower MF by another 0.00049
How much of a security deposit would I need to put down to avoid getting the additonal .00015 ?

7 additonal SD's? Sorry, I don't understand what that means would you mind explaining? Thanks

An SD is equal to your payment rounded to the next highest $50.

Search this forum or bimmerfest.com for 'MSD'

It is called negotiating...you know he can mark it up 0.0004 so you ask him to split the difference and just mark it up 0.0002...which should be fair to both sides.

Looks like I'm going to be paying cash since the cost of using cash is a couple thousand dollars less than leasing for my particular situation.
Greg,

Thank you for this information! Do you have the numbers for 24 mo and 36 mo @ 10k and 12k mileage?

MF's are the same and add 2% to residual for 12K and 3% for 10K.

Given that prime lending rate has gone up more than 2x since 2003, seems that these MFs aren't all that bad...

Why would you pay less to borrow money on a car than on a house?

thanks a bunch for the info. i'm learning alot here. wish i had done this research earlier. problem is the car is already ordered and we already negotiated the lease. i didn't sign for the car (it's been ordered and completed assembly today), all they have is a 1k$ security deposit. do you think i have any leverage to renegotiate the deal here? Won't they just say they're gonna keep my SD if I back out?

I read up on MSD and I will definitely ask if I can do that. Seems like a no brainer. I only mind putting money down on a lease when i wont get it back.

It costs nothing to ask your CA...call/email him.

If it's just a deposit for an order, they can't keep your money (although they may tell you they can). You can get it back. They might not renegotiate your offer, but you could always go to another dealer.

why would they good lower than .002 when the 06 sedans out now are not that good? I think the 330i is .00195 now though.

Wishful thinking on my part I guess...there are some people out there reporting MF's of 0.00175 on the 06 330...which isn't being advertised.

Kay, since I do not understand a word that I've read in this thread, I'll just go ahead and ask a question...

How realistic is it for me to try to convince my dealer to let me lease a 328i coupe for >$500 a month, with $1500-$2000 down?

We've purchased four vehicles from them in the past two years, and I'm hoping I can use that as a sort of starting point...

If you don't understand a word in this post PLEASE don't lease as you will get hosed.

Do yourself a favor and search this site or bimmerfest.com for 'lease', 'msd', etc. and educate yourself...in general, NEVER put $ down on a lease...unless you put a small amount down to decrease your security deposit payments...also NEVER talk payments with a dealer...talk cap, MF, residual and acquisition fee.

You can start here: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=146090
