For example, my cousin has an Audi RS4 V8 FSI 420hp, that I've driven lot of time in altitude: the loose of power is evident and annoying.
Una question: what's the differences between MSD80 and MSD81? How can I discover what version my car (E.91 335XI purchased on 11/2007) has?
Thank you in advance..

That's not true. My supercharged Mustang didn't increase boost at altitude; it probably lost a bit. Dinan's tune for the N54 does not increase boost at altitude. Again, the great thing about this car is I don't really notice a drop in power driving up here compared to sea level, and I want to maintain that feature if I tune the ECU..
Mmh, sorry, but my english is so poor, so it's quite difficolt to espress oneself correctly! Mustang has got a supercharged-engine (like the new Audi S4 3.0TFSI 333cv), not a "turbo" engine. Only the second one is able to compensate for altitude without loosing in power, while the supercharged engines cannot increase boost at altitude, as well as every athmosferic-charged engine!
Have a nice day!

Because this power kit solves all lag problems (turbo lag, shift lag in 6MT etc)
I think it would be great if someone with this power kit installed (cstavaru) could let tuners like GIAC and ESS read theyr code.

I think this could be a good base to develop new flashes without lag from ESS and GIAC... and maybe they could convert the power kit for the MSD80...

If someone is interested in collecting data from my car...no problem. As long as they don't make me buy expensive cables, devices, etc.

I took the decision, and ordered the power kit today

Next to this tread, also the experience expressed in the link below convinced me.

http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/ab-ma...0.html?page=18

Experience are:
0-200km/h : 1.2-1.5s faster
even 1.7s with BMW performance exhaust (person reported a 0.5s improvement with the exhaust in addition)

Just ordered an X6 50i with the performance power kit. Cost about $1,500.00. I am excited to see what kind of a difference it really makes. The salesman turned to me when I added it to the list of options and said $1,500 for 40 horsepower? I told him people pay 40 grand for a 328 with 200 horsepower.. $1,500.00 doesn't seem half bad.. We will see how itchy I get to mod the X6.. I can already feel the bug coming..

I just got my Kit installed today. first impressions - really really like the power- the transmission in DS mode feels somewhat smoother. The turbo lag seems to be reduced greatly (hardly none at all). BMW is having a special on the power kit + exhaust here in canada until Dec 31 2009 - I had to have my DME replaced - so it was 2295 CDN for me.. I also bought the performance air duct for 295 as well (you apparently must get it when putting in the power kit).....I cant remember the price for MSD81 DME cars -but im pretty sure it was well under 2000 (i think it was around 1800 if im not mistaken) . They also offered me the performance exhaust at $1000 off if i purchased it with the power kit - but i decided not to go with it. Am I the first person in north america to get the power kit? I'll give more impressions once i get to drive some more

You edited the post, but I hope you understand that on this forum people are pretty much informed. There is no (BMW OEM) Power Kit for the x6 5.0i. You may not even know until very recently that your car has a 4.4l engine, and not a 5 liter. If you have got a quote from the dealer, it must have been for a 3-rd party tune. But if so, I doubt the power increase is only 40hp.

Guys...ordered power kit over a month ago...finally arrived 2 days ago...but i have second thoughts about installing the kit...DME will be replaced...not sure if this will be compatible with my JB3 tune...can't have a car without Jb...was more interested in the additional cooling components but can't have it without all the others stuff including software..

so i am back to the drawing board...thinking

I don't have a camera handy at the moment (will try and take some pics later) - but the best way i can describe it is it's a duct that is on the drivers side that looks extremely similar to oil cooler duct found on the passenger side of the car except this performance air duct is on the drivers side. My guess its so that the added fans can suck in additional air? not quite sure. I just got back from about 2 or 3 hours of highway driving....the car definitely runs a lot cooler than stock - I ran the car hard and it definitely pulls noticeably more on the high end... i can safely say that now I am really sold on the cooling aspects of this performance kit tho ...its really weird tho...to me the shifting of the car seems to be totally different (In a good way - I'm an AT)...It seems to be shifting a lot smoother and quicker -especially on downshifting...I'm not sure if this is all in my head or not - any other AT owners notice this as well?

Exciting news UToronto! I would not have thought that overheating would be an issue for you up there. Your comments regarding effects of tune on shifting are interesting. It would be especially useful to have a side-by-side before & after tune comparo btw 6MT and Step. Cstavaru, do you notice a change in shifting with your manual tranny?
