Some kids threw eggs on dad's car, detail?
Hi guys,
Pls help! There were some kids playing outside last night and this morning i realized someone has thrown an egg to my dad's car. The stain can still be seen even after car wash. What should i do to clear the egg stain on the car paint? I first think of detail but its already too late to go today ( after 5pm ). I live in Diamond Bar southern california area, any suggestion? Pls help. Thanks. |

Wow, unbelievable. I dont know but I thought that eggs leave bad damage that is not easily wiped off. Im sure one of the detailers will know, but u probably should have put this in the detailing section to get the experts.

You will have to have the section repainted because the paint is ruined, sorry.

if you have access to clay, you should try that first
if not, you should contact a detailer to get it polished |

Was it baking in the sun for any period of time? A picture of the damage would be best.
Eggs are extremely acidic, and can do permanent damage to the clearcoat - especially if left on there for an extended period of time. To remove the stain, you'll be best off with some diluted vinegar (start 2:1 maybe). Use an MF cloth and gently work it into the area and see if that helps. Some people recommend leaving the cloth (soaked in the vinegar mix) on the car for a little while. If that doesn't work, you may need to wetsand (followed by a series of polishing steps) to remove it. Remember to add a layer of protection (sealant of wax) back to where the vinegar (or wetsanding/polish, for that matter) was done.

Unfortunately, egg damage can be very bad on cars. There are lots of stories on autopia.org (try a search there and here), and they rarely have a good ending. Rinsing the egg off quickly, you may be able to polish it back into shape, but often it seems the eggshell damages paint as much as the raw egg itself.
Merged your two threads into one.

Generally what happens is irreversable paint damage caused by the acidity of the egg. It will usually leave a distinct pattern which is impossible to remove therefore as others have said to repaint would be the best option to restore the finish.

It is possible your car or homeowners would cover the repair. Even if you can mask it to some extent the damage is done to the clear coat and it will only get worse over time. I would consider repainting this area if it makes sense to you to do so. Scratch X will do nothing to help this situation.
