Most people don't like the gloss look. When the leather's glossy, it typically means it wasn't cared for well.

I don't think you will find a proper leather product that will leave a gloss. That is generally what plastic covered in Armor all looks like. I would recommend letherique products as they seem to be among the best to care for leather but you will not get a shine. If you just want a shine then you could used a silicone based product or armor all like they do at carwashes. These products are horrible for leather but will make it shine.

Some of us that used to have fake leather interiors used to see shinny as nice but quality leather seats should never shine unless that are at the end of their lives or are 40 years old.

Lexol leather cleaner and leather conditioner (seperate bottles) works very well. Remember 'good' doesn't have to be expensive or only available via mail order.

+1

Gloss is usually something to be avoided and real leather care products will inevitably restore the matte look.

Leatherique is one of the best leather products out there.

My long standing approach has been to AT LEAST wipe it down after every weekly exterior wash. First, keep it clean on a regular basis.

I then condition it with Zaino Z10 about once a month and about every quarter I clean AND condition with Z9, soft nylon brush and moist, then dry towel wipe downs. Then Z10.

About every 8 to 12 months I Leatherique. My Creme beige leather is so soft I am afraid of tearing it sometimes!

I have a leatherique kit from 3-4 years ago. Never used it once, I wonder if it goes bad sitting all this time in the garage. I also wonder if its a good product for BMW, Merc leather. I remember reading that the leather on these cars come with a leather equivalent of a clear coat. Too harsh a chemical will remove the protectant layer of the leather and it will wear faster after that.

the only part of the leather has any wear/dirt is the drivers seat, a little dirty right on the bottom and starting to get shiney on the thigh rest. Will leatherique work to get it back to factory original matte finish? or again is that finish attributable to this clear coat for leathers?

I just used the leatherique products on my 2006 330i and I must say I am really impressed. I did not allow the conditioner to sit on the leather for more than an hour and the leather looks and feels fantastic. Next time I will let it sit on the leather and soak in longer. Of course as others have said gloss is not desirable and products like armor all seem to dry leather out.

I used the Leatherique yesterday, let the oil sit for about 4-5 hours. The results are simply awesome. The seats look brand new again. True they were not too bad to begin with, but all the high traffic areas like the drivers seat and drivers door panel look and feel just as factory fresh as the rest of the leather. The whole interior looks uniform now and there is no sign of any high traffic areas. It does take some time treat, but once a year its not too bad.

The finish is soft and matte, not glossy.

Check out our Leather Care Promotion we're running for anyone in need of some leather products. The Leatherique combo is the choice by many high end professional detailers. When used properly, the results are simply amazing. Here's a complete article on how to get the most out of the Leatherique products, it's a very unique application process, but worth the time!

If anyone has any questions on anything, please do not hesitate to ask.

I just used Leather Stuff on my car last week, and am very pleased with it. I love the smell, and like other high quality leather care products, it leaves a matte shine. As far as cleaning, it's adequate (I used it on some pretty dirty beige leather), and the leather does turn out soft, but it doesn't provide the same results as leatherique. Then again, it's on sale for $11 now and the instructions say to only leave it on the leather for at least 10 minutes, so it won't take a few hours out of your day like leatherique.

I tried this once. Yeah, it cleans, but it leaves a shiny finish, which isn't very attractive. If you like the shiny finish, then just stick with it. If you can't stand it, try one of the products mentioned here, or be conservative with the amount of product you use. Plus, I couldn't stand the smell..
