If you are leasing, it is beyond stupid to put any cash down on a lease except for MSDs.

By beyond stupid, you mean not stupid right.

I'd prefer to put some more money now to make the payment more conservative over the long term. I understand the monthly payment is only effected by a minimal amount, but I just have more piece of mind having a lower than higher payment. You make it sound as though this money isn't going to go into the car in the long run anyway. Am I missing something here?

MSD=security dep?

Down payments lower monthly payments but that's all. You'll never see that money again. MSD, or "multiple security deposits" lower your monthly payments and you get the money back at the end of your lease. Never put "down payments" when you can use MSD. You can put up to 7 MSD's with BMW.

Hope that helps a bit.

I don't get it why many of you are "down" on putting cash down on the lease over and above the MSD's. You are just prepaying the lease, not throwing your money away??? Of course you "don't get your money back" but you don't get the payments back that you make every month either, jees. Cash down on the lease also lowers the interest you are paying on the lease! Now the arguement can be made that the cash could be put to better use (i.e. invested), but for those who aren't great investors, you'd have to make like a 10% return on your cash to make it worthwhile. Also for those of you who love MSD's, you are also tying up your cash for 2-3 years!!! I just don't get it, I've had this conversation with my friend who used to be a finance manager at a dealership and when I presented the numbers and 3 year forecasts it shocked him that money down was a real benefit.

Can't everyone see that this is a line the dealers use and infuse in the industry that is a load of crap. The more money you put down THE LESS THE DEALERS/ BMWF make in profit (interest).

Please, PLEASE, somebody prove me wrong. I've run about 30 forecast scenarios, and just don't get the "no money down" hype. clank (that was me getting off my soapbox).

what about the residual values? That coulda went down making the payment we already have stay near the same..Im currently at 648 with oct. rates .00200 and 67% residual on a 30 month lease. With the drop to .00175 my payment drops to $628.. but if the residual goes down to 66% my payment will be $640 and go higher if residual drops even more

BMW335TT, those are probably figures for a 2006 vehicle leftover, not the same for a desirable kick ass 335TT. Call your dealer and find out what the MF's and Resids are for the 2K7

MF's for the 328xi e90 SUCK. I'll be buying mine.

"Dealer just called me with Nov 2006 coupe/sedan Lease rates (money factors) " read that to mean MY2006.

Just go check the Lease offers for 07 328, xi and 335 they are all down by 30$.
when I placed my order on September, 335 basic lease was 529$ (if i remember it right) but now it is 499$. So yeah the lease payments should go down at least 30 $.
