Aux input trouble

I have a 2011 335 with iDrive and hardmon kamon system with the y cable ipod adapter and I noticed that sometimes it will only play out the left side speakers and if I fool around with the aux input it will go back to all the speakers ... Any idea if its the aux input or just the cable ?

It could be either, but mine was fixed with a new cable.
