The math is actually incorrect.

As you correctly noted, 2% grade means that the tangent of the angle of inclination alpha is 0.02. Which means that alpha itself is equal to arctan(0.02) (or tan^-1(0.02) if you prefer). This is approximately 1.1457° angle of inclination. So far so good.

However, now in order to convert horizontal distance (or horizontal speed Vhor) into actual distance (or speed V) you have to divide the horizontal distance (or speed) by cos(alpha). So, the actual speed V is equal to Vhor / cos(arctan(grade)), not Vhor + Vhor * sin(arctan(grade)). I don't know where you got the latter formula.

For 55 mph of horizontal speed, the actual speed on 0.02 grade would be only 55.01 mph, not 56.1 mph as you incorrectly calculated.

You can easily overthrow your own formula by testing it on a trivial input: Vhor = 1mph and alpha = 45°. Obviously, the actual speed should end up approximately equal to 1.41 mph (diagonal of a unit square). Your formula produces 1 + 1 * sin 45° = 1.7 mph, which is not even close.

This means you probably don't have the "Comfort Access" option...

Big fan of the handles built into the underside of the trunk lid so you can close the trunk without having to touch the paint

I just found them a few months ago, so thought they'd be worth adding to this thread since it was already bumped. Apologies if one of the other 2100 posts was about this, I didn't re-read all of them.

this works on my 2008 335i

After getting out of the car and locking it, I realize that i forgot to roll up the windows. Just leave your hand on the the door handle like you're trying to lock it, and the windows will start rolling up .

And what effect does this have on MPG/Fuel efficiency calculations? Sounds like a govt conspiracy to me!
It DOES have a tolerance, for sure! Usually something like +/- 3ft. But that depends on your exact chipset and the quality of current satellite acquisition.

But the point is that GPS measures speed as the integration between points rather than directly, so the error isn't the same. GPS speed will be least accurate when you're moving slowly and will increase in accuracy with speed.

For example, say you measured two points an hour apart in time, and 1 mile apart in real distance. With +/-3ft accuracy, your distance measurement will be 1mi +/-6ft. As a percentage that's quite low. Say you measured quickly though, moving two feet between points - the gps could say you went BACKWARDS 4 feet and still be within accuracy spec.

That said, while gps's absolute accuracy might be 3ft, it doesn't drift much. The differential is usually quite accurate.

As for uphill, it's been said: if your GPS has a lock on at least 4 satellites, you can measure absolute position including altitude. The GPS will know you're going uphill - it's measuring your velocity in three dimensions then CALCULATING speed.

Works on E92/93s to make getting in easier. Helps a lot in tight places!

Correct, if you click & hold the unlock button for over a second or two, the windows will go go down (as long as you keep holding the button, so you can stop half way if you want, and if you keep holding it, the sun roof will then open.
Very handy if you let the car get super-hot in the sun, (and don't have tint!)

Wink

hi Guys,

I am new to the forum. I will have some questions later.

My car is an E92 335i bought from Atlanta. Excellent one!
It is M-paket outside. I did the LCI upgrade already. Planning on Performance brakes, diffuser and exhaust system yet. However on the brake side I am not sure as I was given the information it does not apply to 335i.

This is the system:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/BMW-M-Perform...item51ad6fd182

Is there anyone having it on?

On the window drive by key I was told by my coder it is dependent on the market how BMW sets it up. My car was only doing it one way, if I recall it right only the opening function was active.
He coded for full control.

Cheers,
TB

If you're talking about the circle that looks like it has an exclamation point in it, I'm fairly certain it's the low tire pressure indicator. I would have to double check the manual to be sure though.
