congrats !!! They should re-imburse you for your inconvenience.

I have been having lots of trouble with the installation of my alarm system - several visits to the dealership and lots of frustraton. I was told today that BMW is re-imbursing me for the alarm for my trouble. Still does not work correctly though --- working on it !!

You should get something for your inconvenience too !!

Good luck and enjoy !!

Was this a PUMA case, or is there a service bulletin for it? This should be helpful to the other members that have that problem.

They did generate a PUMA case. I will try to find the number.

I spoke to the shop forman this AM after the SA said they needed the car for ANOTHER DAY to fix the alarm issue. I asked him if they were just continung to SHOTGUN the issue or if he really did have a SMOKING GUN and CORRECTIVE ACTION defined from BMW NA or Germany. He said he was told to load V26 and that should solve the problem.

So, right now they are trying to find me a car to use so I can get it in prior to the 4th holiday as I am going away next Tuesday AM.

I will let everyone on the post know what happens after I get the car back.

I also heard that the Service MAnager talked to the BMW District Rep. and he authorised re-imbursing me for the alarm system. Lot of hassle and I was not looking for any "GIFT" but something for all the aggravation and 3 trips to the dealership (~15 miles each way) is ok too.

Sooo I was just thinking of all the people here who have been having problems with their iPod switching to FM radio for no reason without warning.

I wonder if BMW made this 6FL to work exclusively with the new iPhone instead. Seems some people are already posting the iPhone is working perfectly using the 6FL, imagine that.

So was BMW's whole idea of the 6FL geared toward this iPhone and all the hoopla marketing that goes along with it?

No. I'm sure they had enough information about iPhone to ensure its compatibility, but not at the expense of other iPods. The iPod functions within the iPhone are probably all the same anyway.

I don't know that we've ruled out that each of these people has some problem with the iPod itself, but I think I recall one poster who tried a different iPod and it worked better.

I probably posted too early. It appears someone over at Bimmerfest forum posted that using the iPhone and 6FL the ipod is still switching over to FM. So the problem still exists even with the iPhone. This indeed sounds like a software issue.

What I can't figure out is if it's a software issue, why is it not happening to everyone? Wasn't there some folks (in this 647 post thread) that switching to FM is NOT happening to?

Not only does the problem occur for me when I'm using my iPod, but when my wife drives the car the same problem occurs with her iPod.

Two different iPods, same problem occurs.

That certainly makes it look like a problem with the software or possibly wiring. I'm wondering if there could be a wiring problem that is losing the iPod? Either way I hope you guys get a resolution soon.

If you have this problem, you should let your SA know - the more people affected by a problem, the better chance that resources will be assigned to resolve it.

Ipod Issues

I just took delivery of a E93 with the 6FL option. I purchased the adapter kit from the BMW dealer. The first time I plugged in the Ipod it starts to play and then stops. The Ipod screen reads "OK to disconnect" and I have no control over the Ipod via the stereo system or the Ipod. Any idea why this is happening?

If you're in the US you should get the Y-adapter for free. Is that what you have?

My car did not come with the iPod/Usb connector but I do have iDrive. Can someone tell me how much it cost to install this option? Thank you.

The cost of ordering a new car.

It´s a factory option. Period.

You can order an aftermarket Interface for iPod from the dealer which is iPod only and works similarly. It´s not as refined as the factory option however. On the other hand, it works perfectly and there have been a lot of problems posted with the factory option (although some of them probably have to do with the wrong cable being used)

Sounds like it's only connected with USB. Are you sure you're using the correct Y cable for the iPod dock connection?

I have read every page of this thread in anticipation of my new car and have to repeat one question that I have not seen answered...

Is this only happening with USB connections or does it also happen with devices plugged ONLY into the aux port?

The only thing that changed (I know I am over simplifying) with the addition of 6FL is the addition of a USB port. This problem was not being reported before. That leads me to wonder if it has something to do with the USB port itself.

And on to another question this thread has left me wondering about...since I do not have my car yet it is a little difficult to intellectualize. I have read the online manuals and still wonder...

Is there a difference between selecting aux via idrive as opposed to just allowing the stereo to switch to aux when you plug a device in?

Correct 6FL cable

Ledzep,

I purchased the Y-cable from the BMW dealer. It's the one with the USB and head-phone looking jack and Ipod docking connector on the other end. So I'm pretty sure I have the correct and most up-to-date stuff.

I imagine that using only the AUX jack would not cause the same problem. However, in my '06 I used to have the Sirius switch over to FM every time I shut off the car. Never did it while on though. I think they will find some software glitch eventually.

Yep - that's the right cable. I forgot to look... are you in the U.S.? If so you don't need to buy the cable, it's included in the price of the option.

6FL Problems - Switches to FM - Is there a Fix?

Has anyone heard of a fix for the uncommanded switching to FM? My 328i
switches 5 to 10 times each day. I have read posts on other forums and here from maybe a hundred folks that have this problem..

Thx

Pat

Creative Zen

Did the search but can anyone conclude the Creative Zen Vision M does not work with the 6FL other than through the analog Aux-in?

Thanks.
