Who has installed monitors in their headrest?

Well first off I know headrest monitors are useless for me but I wanted to give my passengers some thing to watch on our trips to Vegas, anyways getting to to point. I got the backplate off (which whoever put those Christmas tree retainers should be shot) and to my extreme surprise there is some 21st century technology in there. There is clear tubes everywhere and a wire that goes into the headrest. My best guess is there are impact sensors in the headrest that deploy airbags, but..... That's just a guess. Does anyone know exactly what all that stuff is. It's a 2010 335i e92. Thanks
Jay

This would be my guess as well. Might have to swap to pre2009 headrests to make headrest monitors work.

Yeah, i was just about to say that it definately belongs to the Airbag system. You could certainly make a DIY for screens in the seatsbacks like they are on the LCI models? You would need a small video splitter, and you would need to run the power solution, but it might not be that bad. You would need either CNC if you wanted a metal trim, or you could buy a boatload of sugru and mold a shape, and shave it down like a sculptor. Am I going to do that to my e90? Nah, probably not. Would it be impossible? No, not at all. Would I do it myself? Nah, probably not (unless I get some free screens/equipment and access to a CNC machine )
