dealer is telling me if the gaskets are leaking they are not covered under CPO. and they want $700 for it.

I thought everyone was getting theirs fixed under CPO!

Unfortunately, CPO is not as comprehensive as the factory warranty. Seals and gaskets are usually only covered in the repair of other engine components listed in their CPO warranty booklet:

Try speaking to the Service Manager. In some instances they can make a case with BMW Canada regarding your issue. If not, take your car to an independent BMW tech to fix it cheaper.

Good news is the dealership did the job under cpo because they had to do the lifters too due to ticking.

Bad news is, I still smell burning oil after 1000km of driving, so there us still a leak! I would think if there was any oil left there from before it would have burned off by now... when I looked under the hood today I could clearly see smoke coming from that area. Argggggg!

Maybe I'll take a rag and clean up any oil and see if more leaks out. Otherwise back to dealership in January

Um don't get me wrong, they didn't replace the lifters under warranty just to cover the gasket replacement. Mine were actually bad and doing that job just happened to cover the gasket as well. Cpo covers that so you can go to any dealership.

I didn't know N54 had the same ticking sound problem too
