335i Oil consumption

How often do you guys add oil into your cars?? Does the 335i just eat a lot of oil??

+20k km (or +12.5k miles), with only 1/2 quart gone.

did the proper break-in (<4.5k RPM for the first 1,250 miles).

after the first 10k.. it never went below full (considering schedule maintenance every 15k)

now at 50k

I am not sure this is the key for the proper break-in. You need pressure to sit the rings. Of course, driving at constant high rpms is bad but it's a good idea to vary rpms in the first 1000 miles.

I think what he's stating is that he kept it under 4,500 for the first 1k miles. I didn't see the less than (<) symbol when I first read it, and though he was saying to hold it @4,500rpms!! That would def not be proper break in!!! But, reading again, I do believe he means less than Xrpm's.

Oh, and i originally meant to add my oil consumption to the thread. Full bolt on's, no -meth, 77k miles, JB4 = 1quart every 1,800-2,200 miles.
