When does one need new struts?
Tire place just told me they saw some chop on the rear tires and I should keep an eye on it. They say I prob wont notice anything for another 10-20k miles.
When I asked them when the day finally comes struts plus labor almost 2k on my 2008 BMW 328i ZSP Car is at 53k |

if the car bounces excessively you need to replace them. bounce car, if it keeps rebounding they are done.
you could diy for a lot less when the time comes. most of the lowering spring DIYs show you how to do all this. autozone has spring compressor. |

This car will hardly bounce pushing on it even with worn shocks and struts. Anything over 60k and they are getting weak. Alot of the E9x cars I have worked on, the rear shocks are so worn at 60k that I can compress the rear shocks with just 3 fingers. No compression left at all. You will start to notice a harsher ride also.
