North Carolina - Tinting Laws / Enforcement
Considering a move to NC and wondering if anyone knew what the law is there with respect to tinting, and how strictly it's enforced.
Thanks!

NC requires an annual safety and emission inspection.
Your tinted windows will be checked with a light meter at your annual inspection if the inspector thinks they are over the legal limit. |

Sweet, thanks guys. So I should be safe with 35% - 40% all around.
Can anyone recommend a good quality shop to do the tinting?

front plates are not required.. i don't think.
i have an european license plate on the front. i have no tint on windshield, 35% on front windows, 5% rest (back seat windows and the backwindow). i got pulled over once for speeding by a state trooper but he didn't say anything about window tints that i had. so far never got pulled over for having dark window tints. I also work at a place where a lot of police officers come by. i asked one of them about window tints. (experienced officer) he also said that most officers doesn't like carrying around light meters, which they will need if they pull you over for having illegal tints. So i think you'll be safe with 35% on front and 5% rest. (nothing on windshield) BUT IT'S JUST MY OPINION. |
